The sweet smell of the farm...

...I know it's beckoning! Emily here again... with some good news. (I REALLY like good news, FYI.) Looks like Serry might be smelling some of this fall weather from HOME soon. Remember how we mentioned before that she would be getting 6 weeks of radiation, M-F? Well, this is technically week one, which means she should be heading home for the weekend to rest and just BE on the farm! :) I'm happy because it means I get to SEE her again! (please remember, just because she's home, she's still in treatment--visiting may not be the best option at this point.)

The OTHER good news I have is that, even after such a short time (since last Friday) the radiation seems to be killing what it needs to be killing! She's had a few issues (like the numbness in her face that has made it hurt when she smiles/laughs too much) that were caused by some key tumors. Those were what they first attacked with the radiation and the problems that she's had seem to be diminishing. They're still there, but to a lesser degree. I know we've got a rough few weeks (months... and more) ahead of us, but it's reassuring to me to know 1) these urgent problems are being resolved, and 2) radiation appears to be working.

There's a bunch of other stuff we could talk about on here, but I think this is enough for tonight. Again, as always, thank you for all of your well wishes, prayers, and support.

And Serry... love you, girlie.

Ms. Sherry,
This is really good news that the initial radiation is working. It will feel so good to be at home in your own bed without all the hospital smells/sight/sounds. Please know that you are in our prayers every day and that will continue until we see Facebook pictures of you camping with your sisters in some beautiful place again. Cousin Judy

Okay Serry, I have tried several days to do this blog thing and too old to learn new tricks, except for the patient help from Emily. I hope this one works because if it doesn't Andy and I will drop by by Pony Express and drop some real mail off. So gald you will be coming home this weekend. I have so many pictures of your beautiful smile around this neighborhood. Selling Easter lillys to raise money for cross country, helping by pruning in the trees and yes that great time you and Grace were power shopping in the gift shoppe when we had no electricy. Your beautiful smile is such a reflection of the grace and strength inside of you. You are in our prayers. Also one of your apples are in Andy's stomach. We stopped by yesterday to see if anyone was home and they weren't so Andy just had to have any apple, to console himself. It was one with a blemish on it so we didn't think Grace & Ron would mind. Well get some sleep we love you. Carol Downing

Hey Serry! Hope that the treatment continues to treat you well. Missing you around here in OT, for coffee runs, etc. Right now Greg, Dar, Tyson, Juan and I are all in the office... The "Peanut Gallery" in full effect. Glad to hear that you have your family farm to visit when you can. That's awesome. Praying for you and keep on trucking!

Serry, great news for you, your family and all of us back in Pullman, too. I'm so glad to hear radiation is working. You'll remain in our prayers and thoughts. I ran into the OT bunch standing in line at the coffee cart on first floor yesterday and missed your face. I hope you really enjoy being home with your family for a while! That you are going to be able to even go home for a visit this early in your treatment is really good news. Take care of yourself. Lorie Mochel

Hidy-Ho, Serry! It's a cool, gray day on the Palouse. The news that your treatments are helping, and that you can spend weekends at home soon provided welcome sunshine! Glenn is on vacation in Charlotte, visiting his newest grandson, and it's pretty quiet on the 4th floor of Johnson Tower! Hang in there... Warm fuzzies, Ann

Dear Serry,
I am so sorry to hear that you are ill and eagerly hope you a speedy recovery.
It broke my heart to know that you are suffering the illness, and could hardly believe that this happens to you. A kind, sunny girl with pity to all surround you, ready to help every body. I still remember that when I was first in the U.S. you gave me so many help, when my computer failed you helped me out consulting the Computer Center and Fujitsu America; when I failed in consulting the library, you gave a great hand in checking the information. It’s really an enjoyable time for a Chinese with his first visit to America, and when I came back China, I always miss the time with the stuff of the University, esp. you. I always talk with my colleagues about you and your high efficiency in handling everything and your sympathy to everybody around you.
And now I am crossing my fingers for you in hope that you will be safe and sound.
I can only imagine how difficult this time must be for you, and I want to extend to you my unwavering support. And I really hope that when everything is better, you can come to China to visit my University.
I feel extremely sorry for this, and I will be looking forward to hearing that everything be better.
Best regards,

Yours sincerely,
Zhilin Qin
